BIOGRAPHY Lawrence Washington has been actively involved in the food service industry for over 25 years with the last 13 years spent at the helm of A Taste of Heaven, Inc., a full-service food service contracting firm. As owner, Mr. Washington is well-versed in virtually every aspect of the business including contract procurement, project management, menu development and food safety compliance.
Mr. Washington has served a diverse client base in metropolitan Philadelphia as well as in the surrounding counties. Those serviced include corporate, social and educational clients. The projects undertaken are as diverse as his clients. Mr. Washington has managed several large multi-phase projects, most notable was the opening of 2 restaurants in Southwest and Nicetown sections of Philadelphia, PA.
These restaurants served a valuable addition to the neighborhoods and played a crucial role in the stabilization and beautification of the business corridor.
Mr. Washington began his career as a dishwasher in a Philadelphia Hotel and worked his way up to Chef de Parties at the Four Seasons Hotel Philadelphia. After successfully playing a key role in the success of the Four Seasons Hotel for nearly 20 years, Mr. Washington decided to expand upon his technical expertise and launched A Taste of Heaven, Inc.
He is a Professional Chef in Philadelphia and has cooked for numerous celebrities, politicians and everyday folks who seek healthy and good tasting food. Mr. Washington is also dedicated to improving the quality of life in local communities. He is involved in several community organizations, including the West Philadelphia YMCA. In 2008 Mr. Washington has created The Grill Sergeant’s Kitchen Boot Kamp, an organization dedicated to improving the lives of inner-city youth through enrichment opportunities and educational programs in athletics, nutrition and health.
